Jamie Jackson, Executive Pastor
Job Description:
I serve on the Pastoral Staff, the Strategic Advisory Team (SAT) and the General Board. My primary role is to assist the Senior Pastor in overseeing the life and direction of the church toward the goal of “leading people in the adventure of becoming like Christ.”
One of my passions that helps me do my job is to connect high capacity people and resource them to make a difference in our world through the local church. One way I do this is by helping our staff leverage new media and technologies to advance their ministry programs.
I also love applying transferable business principles from my corporate experience that bring excellence to our church operations.
Describe your family:
I have been married to my incredible wife, Ann Marie, for over 17 years. Ann Marie and I place a high value on our family and raising our four children: Benjamin, Quin, Jospeh and Elleigh. We often say it's an insanity we enjoy! Watching our children grow is one of the greatest joys of our life together.
How do you spend your time when not at the church?
We are family people and I occupy most of my time outside of church with my family - between sporting events and teaching them how to drive, there's always something going on at the Jackson's. My best days off are somewhere on Lake Erie fishing for that 20 lb. Walleye that got away when I was 10 years old! I also spend time helping my wife running a home-based technology company that provides web services for small to medium size businesses.
Background information:
I was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio and came to know the Lord through the work of the Holy Spirit and the ministry of Church of the Open Door. Sensing a call to full-time vocational ministry, I chose to attend Liberty University and graduated with Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies. Upon graduation, I completed a twelve month internship at Burke Community Church in Burke, Virginia and then served an additional year as the Interim Youth Pastor from 1992-1993. In the summer of 1993, I accepted the position of Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry at First Evangelical Free Church in Overland Park, Kansas where I served for five years. In 1998, after the arrival of our twins, I returned to Virginia with my wife and family and began a short-term career in Telecommunications, Internet technology, and Information Management. From 2002-2005 I served in a volunteer capacity at Grace Community Church in Winchester, Virginia as a member of the church management team and as chairman. In the fall of 2005, I accepted the position of Executive Pastor of Grace Community Church where I served until 2010. It has been an incredible adventure of loving God, serving others and living surrendered - and it's an adventure that continues today at Church of the Open Door.
